Cervélo is a Canadian bicycle manufacturer founded in 1995 by Phil White and Gérard Vroomen, focusing on high-performance carbon road bikes. The project, which originally began in a school basement, soon gained momentum - in 1996, Cervélo produced the first production-ready carbon bicycle frame weighing less than 1 kilogram. Since then, Cervélo bikes have regularly been found as winners and podium finishers in various major cycling races. The Cervélo brand is now part of the Dutch bicycle conglomerate Pon Holdings, but remains the number one contact for road cyclists looking for an exclusive high-performance road bike.
Cervélo has the highest standards for the quality of its products. To underline this, they offer a lifetime warranty on all their bicycle frames for original owners (covering defects that existed at the time of delivery).
Since its founding, Cervélo has been chasing the perfect road bike: the brand's designs are constantly being put to the test and continuously improved. This takes place in various research facilities with the help of wind tunnels, CFD flow simulations, and computer-aided design. Over the years, the tube shapes of the various frames have been perfected for their intended use, resulting in a certain advantage over competitors - not least because Cervélo focuses exclusively on road bikes and invests accordingly in their development.
The intensive promotion of cycling and the sponsorship of many successful teams and elite athletes have led to widespread brand recognition. For example, they provided the bikes for Team CSC between 2003 and 2008, which during this time achieved various victories on Cervélo road bikes and became an absolute top team. In 2009, with the Cervélo TestTeam, they became the first modern bicycle manufacturer to have its own professional team at the highest level. Today, they are a sponsor of the traditional team Team Jumbo-Visma as well as various other cycling athletes from fields such as cyclocross or triathlon.
There is little that can hold a candle to a Cervélo road bike on the street. Road bikes such as the aero road bike Cervélo S5, which is considered the fastest bike in the aero category, or the race bike Cervélo R5, which convinces with its incomparable climbing power, are among the best in their class. But even off-road, Cervélo now has strong bikes in its range: the gravel bike Cervélo Aspero is a bike trimmed for speed on gravel and forest paths, while the ZHT-5 is Cervélo's attempt to transfer their experience in the road bike sector to an XCO mountain bike. With the R5-CX, the brand now also has a fast cyclocross bike in its assortment.
In short: they don't exist. As one of the few remaining bicycle manufacturers on the market, Cervélo refrains from producing e-bikes and focuses entirely on designing the best possible road bikes - a decision for which they are appreciated by road cycling enthusiasts all over the world.
