Giant was founded in Taiwan in 1972 and, in addition to its own two-wheeler production, started out as an original equipment manufacturer for US bicycle brands. Beyond manufacturing parts, the company soon began producing frames for renowned brands such as Schwinn, Scott, and Trek. By 1980, Giant had already become Taiwan's largest bicycle manufacturer and expanded in the following years into a wide variety of global markets, including Europe, the USA, and Australia. Giant is particularly well-known for its carbon processing and has been a pioneer in carbon fiber technology for many years.
